UDHAMPUR: A Head constable, posted with Sher-e-Kashmir Police Training Academy (SKPTA) and a Ramnagar based Panch have been arrested on Friday for their involvement in Udhampur sex scam.
Twelve persons, including eight kingpins, are already in police custody for running a flesh trade trade in the town. The modus operandi of the sex operatives was to exploit the innocent poor village girls, mostly the students, and supplying them to the customers at Udhampur, Katra, Patnitop and various other tourist resorts in lieu of huge money.
Udhampur Police team led by Addl SP Benam Tosh cracked the racket. The two accused arrested on Friday have been identified as Head Constable Shamas-ud- Din posted at SKPTA and Panch Joginder Kumar, son of Amarnath, resident of village Jagir, Ramnagar.
FIR 190/12 under section 376/109/RPC read with 3,4,5 Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act was registered at Police Station Udhampur on the complaint of one victim student, presently putting up in Housing Colony Udhampur. She was injured on 2nd June 2012 and subsequently hospitalised at District Hospital, Udhampur.
The arrested accused have been remanded to Police custody and are being interrogated to ascertain more details. Police said, more raids are being conducted to apprehend all other accused involved in this sex scandal who have gone underground.
