SE, 4 others charge sheeted for misappropriation

JAMMU: The Vigilance Organisation Jammu on  Monday presented Challan against Yoginder Saproo, the  then SE (Retired), Fareed Ahmed Tak, then AEE Doda presently AEE Electric Estate Jammu, Saral Singh Manhas, AEE presently AEE Maintenance Division Doda, then JE Doda and Tariq Husain presently  Junior Engineer Maintenance Division Batote for misappropriation of Rs 16,14,784.
According to the Challan, a joint surprise check conducted on a source alleging therein that large scale of bungling in utilization of Public funds meant for execution of works “Construction of 33/11 KV Receiving Station-II Dallaina Tehsil Bhaderwah by the officials of Electric and Maintenance, Sub-Transmission Division Udhampur in the year 2004-05 revealed that an amount of Rs 170.87 lakh  was released for execution of these works.
On test checking and inspection of the civil works viz land levelling of Receiving Station Dallaian Bhaderwah, construction of breast wall and  drain at Upper Terrace, construction of retaining wall along with the road side, construction of platform for equipments and so many others, it was found that the above officials of Electric Maintenance Sub-Transmission Division, Udhampur in league with each other hatched a criminal conspiracy made payments for non-executed works. After completion of investigation, the VOJ presented Challan in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu.
The Judge Puneet Gupta granted bail to all the accused and directed them to furnish bail bond and personal bond to the tune of Rs 50,000 each.
