JAMMU : Rayat and Bahra Dental College has been ranked best in Punjab and 17th in India in a recent survey conducted by Silicon India Magazine in January 2014 issue. The college scored 520 out of 600 composite score after being assessed on various tough parameters. The students and the staff of the college are very excited on this great achievement. When asked, the students stated that this achievement was possible only because of untiring efforts of their Director Principal, Lt. Gen. (retd.) Dr. Paramjit Singh and Rayat-Bahra Management. Rayat and Bahra Dental College is a multi-specialty dental wing that deals with the nature, identification and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial region.
The first batch of 100 students was admitted to the college in 2011 after approval from Dental Council of India. Ever since, the college has grown by leaps and bounds. In addition to basic and advanced dental treatments being done at the hospital, they also boast of a very successful community outreach programme. The college runs a mobile dental van which moves in nearby villages to provide free medical support to patients seeking dental advice and treatment.
On the whole, the college is continuing to grow in an advanced way from its infancy stage till date.
The achievements can be mapped by the quality of eminent academicians working here, continuous up gradation of the infrastructure, meticulous teaching, active interaction with the students and transparency in the assessment methods which helps to create a well trained student. The institute also possesses a state of the art Dental Implantology Department and an Oral Cancer Screening Centre. Regular visits and expert lectures by reputed Doctors of the region make the teaching experience much meaningful and useful for the students.
