Govt schools in remote areas participate in quiz competition

RAJOURI: A quiz competition for the school children was organised by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) at Government School, Gambir Mughlan on Thursday. The competition was organised for the school children under senior and junior categories. Students from the six schools from remote and far flung areas of Gambir Mughlan, Thanamandi, Kotli, Galuthi, Hatta Seri and Sanjiot, participated in the event. Beside students, the event was witnessed by the teachers, parents, Sarpanchs and Panchs of  Gambir Mughlan, Kotli, Galuthi, and Hatta Seri.
The students were quizzed on a variety of subjects ranging from science, geography, mathematics, sports and current affairs. The performance of the participating students was very encouraging and they impressed the audience with their general knowledge and general awareness. In a closely contested competition, the first prize was bagged by Munsoor-Ul-Nane of Government School, Mughlan whereas Mohammad Saleem of Government School, Kotli was adjudged second amongst the participants. Government School, Gambhir Mughlan won the overall trophy.
At the end of the event, Sector Commander, Rashtriya Rifles distributed the prizes to the winners and certificates to all the participants. While interacting with the students, the Commander emphasised on the need to make educational institutions a center of personality development along with academic excellence.
